The Balding Gag is a loose ring snaffle with a gag, designed to give the rider more control.
The holes at the top and bottom of the cheeks allow the reins to pass through vertically to apply poll pressure.
This is a fairly severe bit so should only be used by a sympathetic and experienced rider.
