The Loop Ring French Bit allows extra control without using a stronger mouthpiece.
The loop ring (also known as a Wilkie Bit) can be used to allow the rider to gain extra control by attaching the cheek pieces to the top loop, increasing poll and lip pressure. When pressure is applied to the rein, the action on the cheek pieces promotes pressure on the poll to bring the head down. To further increase this, the reins can be attached to the lower loop.
The French link style mouthpiece consists of a metal plate that sits on the tongue, for a stronger action when additional control is needed.
